Glass
For glass maintenance, we also suggest that you:
- Use a cutting board for food
- Do not place objects that give off too much heat directly on the glass surface. Use trivets instead.
- Do not place small electrical appliances directly on the glass if they give off too much heat
- Do not use abrasive sponges, cleaning products in powder or too acidic form, alcohol, ammonia and limescale products.
Elegant, modern, refined and bright kitchens with glass fronts or worktops are definitely popular. The glass blends beautifully with all types of kitchens and is ultra-resistant.
WHAT TYPE OF GLASS FOR THE KITCHEN?
Generally, glass in its natural state is made up of silicon oxide (silica SiO2) and fluxes (sand). In order to use it in the kitchen and for it to be resistant to shocks, it must undergo a high temperature treatment. The heat treatment of the glass takes place in a furnace at nearly 600°C and allows it to be excessively strong and, if broken, to crumble into tiny pieces for added safety. Subsequently, during grinding, the edges are polished and made uniform.
PARTICULARITIES AND ADVANTAGES OF GLASS
In a kitchen, glass gives a spectacular effect. With straightforward aesthetics and refinement, it blends perfectly with contemporary, rustic or minimalist kitchens. Offering a glossy or frosted finish, glass is an eco-responsible choice because it is recyclable.
Glass has several qualities and characteristics including:
- Unfailing resistance to liquids (non-porous)
- Superb resistance to grooves and stains
- Exceptional resistance to heat
- Excellent durability
- Easy to maintain
GLASS FACADES IN A KITCHEN
Glass fronts in a kitchen are invariably of the tempered types and are mounted on a frame, visible or not. The thickness of the facade glass generally varies from 20mm to 23mm. To adapt to all tastes and styles, there are also several finishes including frosted glass, laminated glass, wired glass, transparent glass and ultra-clear glass, a glass exempt of green tones, a perfect crystalline glass.
THE CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE OF A GLASS KITCHEN
For cleaning glass surfaces, we suggest that you take a soft cloth and a product specially designed for glass. Then, for the rinsing step, take a microfiber cloth dampened with warm water, then make sure everything is dried well. Pay special attention to the glass inside the facades, it must only be dusted and not cleaned with detergent. As for stains, you should take ethyl alcohol or ammonia (maximum 30%) diluted in water and rub with a cloth.
